At a certain point in your life your sweet tooth would crave for something heavenly tasty that we all know its beyond reality. Almost everybody loves chocolates and if you take a very tiny bite, it could sometimes lead you to a place wherein its just you and the pleasure chocolate has given. It came to a point where I asked myself, who discovered this food and what brilliant mind have they created such delightful mixture that your tastebuds can’t even handle. I recently found out that as early as 1100 BC chocolate was already discovered! Wow! That early… There were residues found on a kind of vessel that indicate that the initial use of cacao was not simply as a beverage, but the white pulp around the cacao beans was likely used as a source of fermentable sugars for an alcoholic drink. I don’t know how it all started but I’m grateful that they did. I can’t imagine our daily lives without chocolates in it. Flowers always compliment with chocolates, Cadbury, Hersheys, Nestle, Lindt and a lot more, Can you imagine our world without all of these? I can’t and I won’t!
You guys might be thinking, what made me do all of these? Say a lot of facts in prehistoric times and simply babbling about chocolates. Well, I’ve got only one answer, FUDGE came into my mind. It’s a restaurant somewhere in Banilad, Mandaue City. This restaurant is more of a patisserie that specializes in pastry and sweets. My partner and I discovered this wondrous place just out of curiousity. While my mom was having her 1-hour massage in a nearby spa, we went for a short walk hoping to find something interesting and we both did. We found a very cozy place with the perfect ambiance to spend our 1-hour wait time.
My partner was just looking for coffee but upon checking their menu, it caught me in awe. The food they serve is way beyond typical, mixture of herbs and spices, fusion of dishes and dessert is very tempting. We just had our dinner so, we jumped directly to desserts! As starters for an unfamiliar place, I would recommend looking at the menu with chef’s recommendation in it. We found Lava Cake! Were not too excited for the first time as we all see the same chocolate cake with ice cream topping in it all over Cebu, worse we have to wait for 25minutes to get our dessert.
Our dessert came and to my surprise the food was presented very well. Drips of syrup on the side, warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream on top. At that point I understood why it takes 25minutes to get our lava cake, it was freshly baked from the oven! Well what can I say, I can’t wait to take our first bite. Wow! It’s the kind of chocolate that you’ve always been looking for in a cake! As we took more of it, BAM! Chocolate syrup oozing out from the center of the cake & suddenly mixes with the vanilla ice cream melt. Now that’s what I call pleasureable LAVA!
That experience was way extraordinary, it would take you to a galaxy that was never discovered and you know, you would be coming back for more. Yes, we did and the best part is, we have our friends to share it with. If you haven’t heard of Fudge, I am personally telling you, from a chef’s point of view, “You’re missing half of your life!”.
